Adding sales tax manually is almost impossible for global transactions where not even one country or one state might have a different sales tax for a different product, a city like Chicago could have its own sales tax and sometimes counties (in the US) have different sales tax. Stripe makes it very easy to use their service for automatic sales tax configuration based on (most of the time) the shipping address for physical products or the billing address for digital product (like hosting).
