Hi,
The order page currently shows the system’s default currency, which is normal. However, in a multi-currency setup, customers can change the currency from the footer.
The issue occurs when a customer is already in the order process (Step 02 or Step 03). If they change the currency at that stage, the system redirects them back to the initial page. This is frustrating for many users, and we are receiving frequent feedback about it. Some customers become irritated and leave the portal altogether.
Please consider resolving this issue. I have two suggestions:
Option 01
Like many other systems, changing the currency should not take the customer back to the initial page. Instead, they should remain on the current step, while the currency symbol and price update based on the selected currency.
Option 02
If a customer tries to change the currency while in the middle of the order process, a warning message should appear. The warning should clearly state that changing the currency will reset the order process and redirect them to the initial page. If the customer confirms, the action will proceed. Otherwise, they will remain on the same page.
This simple warning will help customers understand how the system works. Otherwise, they may think something went wrong on their end and keep repeating the process, getting stuck in a loop.
Even a small adjustment like this could significantly improve the customer experience. We have already received many complaints about this issue, and sometimes customers become rude or abandon the portal entirely because of it.
Customers usually expect simple behavior and are not aware of system limitations or complexity.
Another point:
How does the system behave in the following situation?
Suppose a client’s account default currency is BDT, but the client is unaware of it. They start placing an order using the system default currency (USD). If they log in to their account at Step 03 to complete the order, what will happen? Most likely, the order will fail and the customer will have to start again.
My suggestion is to show a warning after login if the account currency and the order currency do not match. The message should inform the customer that they need to reorder using their account currency.
A simple message like this could greatly improve the overall user experience and prevent unnecessary frustration.
